Pastoral Care

Excellent pastoral care sits at the heart of our ethos at Pate's. We recognise that young people are growing up in a fast-changing world, and this compels us to reflect continually on how best to nurture, guide, and prepare them for life beyond school.

Our pastoral system is built to create a deep sense of belonging. Every student’s wellbeing is supported through a rich network of supportive relationships that includes Heads of Year, Heads of House, pastoral managers, tutors, teachers, peers and older students. These multiple touchpoints ensure each young person feels seen, valued and understood.

We believe that to achieve the very best outcomes, our young people need to be happy and secure in themselves. To thrive is to find joy, purpose and meaning in daily life. It involves developing commitment, effort, and resilience - qualities that enable students to embrace challenge, grow with confidence, and take pride in their progress.

We intentionally create the conditions for students to flourish. We nurture wellbeing, encourage curiosity, and celebrate the effort that underpins true learning. Our aim is simple: to build a community that strengthens identity, purpose and connection, where every individual is supported and celebrated.

We want every student to leave Pate’s with enriched knowledge, as well as the inner resources, to sustain a fulfilling, purposeful and joy-filled life.
