Summer Charity Day Raises Over £5,000

Congratulations to our Summer Charity Day Committee, whose hard work and organisation of a brilliant event on the last day of the Summer Term reaped a massive £5,011.47 for their chosen charities, Cirencester Opportunity Group and Give Directly.

Co-organiser Diya (Yr 13) says,
"Organising and executing the summer charity event was an amiable experience to say the least. Providing a variety of different inflatables, karaoke, ice cream trucks, face painting, a bake sale with homemade treats, and temporary tattoos proved to be enjoyable for the approximate 700 students who attended.

The event was successful and resulted in a considerable amount of money being raised for two charities, Cirencester Opportunity Group and Give Directly. The reason for choosing these charities was due to our view that education is vital to children, especially due to the decrease in literacy rates and that people living in poverty should be given the choice to spend money on their needs rather than the choice being made for them.

Aside from the intentions of the event, the event itself was lively and filled with the laughter of children, whether that be from water gun fights, sponging their favourite teachers, or playing on the inflatables. My personal memorable moment was when we, as the charity group, had the opportunity to go on the "Last Standing Man" inflatable. It marked the end of our event and left an everlasting feeling of accomplishment for the months of work which we put into organizing it.

I would like to specifically thank Mrs Hardy for her support over the months, as well as our amazing team. In addition, I would like to thank Allie (Yr 13), as this event would not be possible without her extensive efforts in all areas of planning, organisation, and overall support."

This excellent outcome brings the total raised by student-led Sixth Form Charity Committees in the last academic year to £13,755... well done and thank you to all involved!
