Senior Sports Tour to South Africa
July 2026 saw 45 Year 11-13 students embark on an unforgettable sporting adventure fortnight to South Africa, combining competitive sport, incredible wildlife encounters and a truly immersive cultural experience.
Throughout the tour, students represented the school with pride across a series of competitive rugby, netball and hockey fixtures, taking on both South African schools and local clubs. These matches provided a fantastic opportunity to test their skills against new opposition, develop their game and build friendships through a shared love of sport.
Beyond the pitch and court, the group experienced some of South Africa’s most extraordinary sights. A highlight for many was the opportunity to head out on safari, getting up close to the magnificent Big Five and witnessing Africa’s incredible wildlife in its natural habitat, alongside a range of other activities such as ziplining high in the canyons, surfing and charity work.
The tour also offered students the chance to discover the beauty and diversity of South Africa, from its breathtaking landscapes to its vibrant communities and rich cultural heritage. It was an opportunity to learn about a different way of life, embrace new experiences and gain a greater appreciation of the world beyond the classroom - all whilst learning every fact from our incredible tour guide and driver, Andre.
More than just a sporting tour, this was an experience filled with challenge, discovery, laughter and lasting memories. Our students returned with new friendships, unforgettable experiences and a real sense of achievement – memories that will stay with them for years to come.
Toby (Yr 12) says,
"South Africa; an amazing place that made incredible memories. From ziplining over valleys and being on top of Table Mountain to volunteering at schools and farms across the Western Cape, we truly got to explore everything that South Africa had to offer. The rugby, hockey and netball that we played throughout the tour taught us some tough lessons playing against talented sides but ultimately helped cement our love for sport and appreciate another culture’s approach to them. All of these different aspects of tour combined together made a trip that none of us will ever forget."
Miriam (Yr 12) shares,
"Our trip to South Africa was an unforgettable experience that I absolutely loved from start to finish. We had the opportunity to play netball and hockey against South African schools, which was a brilliant way to meet new people and experience sport in a different environment. Outside of sport, we enjoyed activities such as zip-lining, volunteering at local schools and charities, and going on a three-day safari where we saw some incredible wildlife. The whole trip was packed with fun and new experiences, and I came home with so many amazing memories that I will never forget."
Annabelle (Yr 12) adds,
"I find it incredibly easy to say that the South Africa sports tour was the greatest two weeks of my life so far. Not only did we get to experience playing sport in a different environment against very challenging opposition, we also got to explore and immerse ourselves in the diverse and exciting culture, and go on adventures I’ve only ever dreamed, such as going on safari. The company we were in really made it special, making new friends and building a team atmosphere that was truly unmatched. If ever the opportunity arose to go on this trip again, I would take it in a heartbeat. Thank you to everyone who made it possible!"
