Pate’s Students Celebrating Top-Scoring Success in GCSEs
Pate’s Grammar School are celebrating GCSE results today, with 48% of the grades awarded being 9s, and 31% of all students achieving eight or more grade 9s.
Out of a cohort of 150 students, 47 students gained a maximum 72 points from their Best 8 GCSEs. With each student typically sitting exams in 10 or 11 subjects, 74% of grades awarded were 9-8 and 87% were grades 9-7. Around 90% of these students will be taking up places at Pate’s Sixth Form, with A Level options spanning more than 20 subjects.
Henry gained straight 9s in his 11 GCSEs and said,
“I am delighted with my results and pleased to have got it over with! It was fun to come and pick up the results in person as I was able to see my friends and the atmosphere was really supportive - it was great to see so many smiling faces! For my A Levels I plan to take Economics, French, German, Maths and Further Maths. Being able to narrow down my subjects is very exciting as I will be able to pursue the areas I am really passionate about. The independence and responsibility of Sixth Form is also something I am looking forward to, alongside getting to wear a suit! I also can’t wait to continue participating in the amazing co-curriculars at Pate’s, such as Big Band and House events. I am very grateful to all my teachers who have consistently provided support and encouragement in all of my subjects.”
Headteacher of Pate’s, Dr James Richardson, said,
“All credit and congratulations to our students and staff team, who have given us so much to be proud of today. Following last week’s outstanding A Level results, we are thrilled with these stories of academic achievement across the broad range of subjects we offer at GCSE, which includes German, Mandarin, Music and PE. Today’s results reflect our vibrant, ambitious learning environment and positive ‘can do’ culture here at Pate’s, where every student can achieve their personal best. We wish these students ongoing success with their A Level studies and look forward to supporting them in their future aspirations”.
