Francophonie on the Road
We were delighted to welcome the Institut Français and four French authors and illustrators to Pate's on Monday 12 October for their "Francophonie on the Road" for our Year 9 French students, and students joining us from five local schools.
The students took part in a workshop and a Q&A with the authors, all in French; we were really impressed by their willingness to 'have a go'.
The visiting authors were Magali Le Huche; Aurore Petit; Benjamin Chaud and Roland Garrigue.
Year 9 Pate's student Maithreyi says,
"On Monday 12th of October, a handful of my classmates and I were lucky enough to attend a Francophonie roadshow, where we met 4 French author/illustrators. We were excited to see what it would be like to converse with native speakers, and even more excited to skip class! Although we did not understand them all the time, using the language we had learnt already, we could piece together their sentences, while drawing the wackiest and most hilarious drawings with them. They also shared with us some personal anecdotes; how they got into drawing, some of their favourite characters - it was interesting to see adults with such a creative and positive imagination and really engaging too! We all loved the event, and many of us took our drawings home with us, to remember all the fun we'd had!"
