Eid al-Fitr Celebration

Pate's Eid al-Fitr celebration took place last term, and the whole school was treated to a cultural festival at Lunchtime, thanks to parent/carer volunteers who ran stalls toshare their celebration with our lucky Pate's students.

Year 8 student Soha, who was involved in the organising of this event, says,

"Eid is a religious and cultural celebration symbolising an accomplishment of dedicated practice of faith. It is important to me because it’s not just a time of celebration and the end of fasting, but it’s a time of gratitude and spending it with family and friends. On the morning of Eid, I feel joy and excitement as I prepare to pray special prayer, eat and enjoy a day of relaxation and gratitude.

Sharing Eid in the school community is important because it strengthens community bonds, and promotes charity. It teaches everyone, Muslim or not, about true cultures and tradition.

At Pate's Eid Celebration, we had stalls selling sweet treats like donuts and cakes, samosas and spring rolls, shaved ice cones and a basil seed drink called Falooda. We also had a cultural dressing up and henna tattoos, which were most popular.

From this event, I hope people have gained more knowledge on this celebration and the different cultures of Islam all uniting together to make a Muslim community. I also believe people will have understood what it means to serve in a dedicated community.  Through this event, I felt that I have contributed meaningfully to bringing this celebration together and to educating others about Eid."

A massive thank you from the entire school community to the parents and carers, and their friends and families, who so generously supported this event.
