Culture Day 2026

This year's Culture Day on 16 April was another fabulous showcase of the united cultures of Pate's.  Year 12 Culture Ambassador Nisa shares the story with us.

Culture Day was definitely one of the highlights of the year, celebrating the diversity of our school in a fun and meaningful way. At Lunchtime, there were stunning dance and music performances from a rich mix of different traditions, food stalls with dishes from around the world and henna stands. Throughout the day, students wearing traditional clothing or colours representing their flags.

Our Aim
We believe that it is very important for everyone to have the chance to share their culture with others. Many students, like us, are eager not just to celebrate their own heritage but also to learn about the diverse backgrounds of those around us at Pate’s, and Culture Day gives us the valuable opportunity to do this while having fun! We hope that this year, students gained a greater appreciation of different cultures and were reminded that everyone brings something valuable and interesting to the community.

Organising the Event
This experience gave us a real insight into how much teamwork and planning goes on behind the scenes and it was rewarding to see everything come together so successfully. For future organisers, we would suggest perhaps including some interactive activities such as games to improve the educational aspect and make everyone feel more involved. However, overall, this year’s Culture Day was a great success and our efforts in organising it were absolutely reflected in the positive atmosphere throughout the event.

Thank you to Year 13 Racial Diversity Ambassadors Ashmit, Anish and Sayako who led the organisation of this event, championing the celebration of individual identity and diversity throughout our school community.
