Who Are We?
Welcome to all Pate’s parents from the Parents’ Association (PA) Committee!
The committee is a team of parents such as yourselves elected to keep the PA on the move. By the very fact that you are a Pate’s parent you are already a member of the PA, a registered charity.
Our aim is to do what we can to advance the education of our children by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the School – this means lots of fundraising which in turn needs lots of volunteers and support. Our aim is to keep you informed of our fundraising activities and to make it is easy as possible for you to volunteer to help at school events.
We hold Committee Meetings every half term and hold our Annual General Meeting in the autumn term each year. The next PA Committee meeting will be held on 25th April 2018 at 6.45pm, in the Development Office Bungalow. The 2018 PA AGM will be held in October 2018, in the Art Gallery. Further details closer to the time. All parents are more than welcome. Please contact PAsecretary@patesgs.org for further details or apologies.
Always feel free to email us with ideas, suggestions, offers and thoughts.

Whenever you buy something, the retailer makes a donation to Pate's. It’s that simple and it really does work.
We’d be really grateful if you could use easyfundraising too. It won't cost you a penny extra to shop through easyfundraising and you can even save money with special offers and voucher codes.
You can also raise money for the school simply by using easysearch instead of Google or any other search engine.
We've given Pate's Grammar School - Cheltenham its own search page - set it as your homepage; use it every time you search the web and watch funds to Pate’s mount up – see http://patesgs.easysearch.org.uk.
Volunteer to Help at School and PA Events
Volunteering could be as simple as sparing a half hour or so to serve drinks at an event or just by sharing ideas or skills. The bar service we provide at school and PA events is becoming a key fundraiser plus it is a popular service for parents and guests attending everything from plays to concerts. The service eats up manpower though and maybe you could helpWe want to make it as easy as possible to volunteer, so we use an efficient and seriously straightforward online system called Doodle to schedule the volunteering. We need to know we can call on you for help so please give us your details.
Either contact PASecretary@Patesgs.org or complete the form available to download here and return to the school front office. We will put you on the mailing list – if you can’t help out at a specific event it doesn’t matter – it’s just good to know you’re there.
Second Hand Uniform - Save Yourself a Fortune and Raise Funds for School
The PA runs a second hand uniform service selling items at various PA events throughout the year. More information can be found by clicking here. Donations of second-hand uniform and sports equipment are always appreciated. Please hand any items in to reception.
How We Spend the Funds:
During the Autumn term of 2017, the PA made the following donations:
Refectory Seating - £8500
Due to new classrooms being available in OED, there has been a reshuffle of other classrooms. This has enabled some freeing up of space in the refectory. The PA provided the funds to furnish this extra area which will now provide the additional seating capacity required for our growing number of students.
Planners - £2050
Every Pate's student uses their daily planners throughout the year to log their homework and assignments. As part of Making £nds Meet this valuable resource will now continue.
IN THE PIPELINE – THOUSANDS NEEDED TO FURNISH THE NEW SIXTH FORM BLOCK DEVELOPMENT
The financial package to develop the new sixth form block does not include the cost of furniture and IT equipment. With this in mind, the PA has pledged to donate at least £15,000 to this project. Ever mindful of the continued need to support the Making £nds Meet appeal, we hope to be able to support both streams of activity. With the incredible support of our parent community we are confident that we can provide meaningful support to both.
My Maths Subscriptions - £1,269, Maths Challenge Entries £624
Not surprisingly in the least, Maths remains a highly subscribed subject at Pate's and, like every other department, has limited resources. The PA have recently contributed to essential online study subscriptions and competition entry fees for this department.
Student Council Requests - £2,240
We are always keen to support the Student Council and regularly ask them what they feel, as representatives of all our children, is needed. This year they suggested a new bike rack for the increasing number of students cycling to school, and four outdoor picnic benches for outside the sixth form area. These are all now in place. We eagerly await their next shopping list.
